At 14-years-old, Jullian Piccione has already performed an arena tour across 40 cities with the Cheetah Girls, showcased a performance for the Jonas Brothers, hung out with Lady Gaga and been signed to a major recording label.
Recently, Piccione signed to Universal Records. After the band he co-founded , 535, split up he started Jullian and the Hearthrob Heroes. He has been with the band for two years.
“When 535 split up, I knew I didn’t want to stop,” Piccione said. “Music is my passion. I’m not ready to give that up.”
Piccione plays the drums, the guitar and the piano. He also writes his own music. His band, Jullian and the Hearthrob Heroes, is made up of members Barry Taylor, Russell Brantley, Evan Fleming and Fabian Guzman.
“We have a lot of fun on tour together. We like to play pranks on each other,” Piccione said.
Piccione’s favorite thing about playing music is when he plays arena shows. His biggest goal is to headline his own arena tour and sell out. He also wants to have one of his songs play on the radio and place on the Top 40 chart; XM radio has played a few of Hearthrob Heroes’ songs already.
The Hearthrob Heroes latest single “Partner in Crime” is now available on iTunes. The first week it was out, it was the third highest selling song on iTunes.
“We are so proud of Jullian,” said Jenean Thomas, a family friend. “He’s such a hard worker and really an amazing kid.”
The Hearthrob Heroes have even changed their image. They used to play 80s rock music and now play pop rock, which Piccione says is the “big thing now”.
One of Piccione’s dreams is to attend the University of Florida and major in music and business so that he can have a career in the music industry and manage his own money. He wants to know where his money is going and not be naïve, but no matter what he decides to do, he knows his family will support him.
The two things he said he misses most when he is on tour are his dog and his mom’s cooking. He said the food on tour is good but it is “not the same”.
“Jullian does his own interviews and he’s very media savvy,” said John Piccione, Jullian’s father. “He has been dealing with the media since he was eight-years-old.”
The one thing Jullian said he wants people to know is that he loves his fans.
“I think one day I won’t be able to go to the grocery store without being mobbed by girls,” Piccione said. “It’ll be great!”
Jullian and the Hearthrob Heroes start a nation-wide tour July 1, 2010. For more information on tour dates and locations, go to www.myspace.com/hearthrobheroes.
Piccione said, “Keep checking our MySpace for tour info and please come check us out!”
